Blogging with Tristan
Hello October! Yes, we made it to the BEST Month ever! I love October, because it’s my Birthday month! This month blogs and focus on how to stay positive in a negative environment. Its fits, right in line with my new book. Wake-Pray-Hustle-Repeat! Let’s be real, it’s hard to stay positive with so much negativity. I grew up in a very negative environment. So I had to learned to see the positive in every situation. It's easy to be positive in a positive environment. It's when things are emotionally draining and negative that you're challenged to behave differently. But you have the opportunity to be the beacon of light for others around you. Positive energy catches on just as quickly as negative energy. Sometimes people are simply stuck in a habit or pattern of behavior and are accustomed to acting a certain way. It takes some time and effort as well as a commitment to do something differently to create sustainable change.
It is so easy in today’s society to get drawn into the darker, more depressing circumstances of life. The best way to combat this and stay positive is to follow these tips. Don’t let the negativity get to you, and to try to overcome it in the most positive ways possible.

Wow September is almost over. For the last month, I have taken time to invest in myself and my brand. I took the leap of faith got my bio, updated my website, updated pictures and got a mentor. I took the leap of faith and started sending emails out. You must take risks and trust God through this process. This week’s blogs focus on investing in yourself. Great leaders are continually learning because they know the only way people build lasting success. Investing in yourself is one of the best return on investment. Whether it’s investing in learning a new skill, developing yourself personally or professionally, tapping into your creativity or hiring a coach, you need to give to yourself first before you can give to others. It is our responsibility to take the time to develop our gifts and talents, so we can best serve others. Why is to so important to invest in yourself. Here are the top 3 reasons, why you should invest in yourself. 1. We all have experiences throughout our life that shape us, for better or for worse. If we don’t unpack those unconscious negative thoughts, we repeat toxic patterns of behavior. This can hold you back in your career if you don’t believe you deserve success. Negative self-worth can keep you tied to unhealthy friendships or romantic relationships, or it could lead you to believe that taking care of yourself and your body isn’t worth it. The narrative you tell yourself can prevent you from making positive life changes. 2. Life is more than just waking up in the morning and going to work. Sure, you earn enough (sometimes even more than enough) to feed you and your family and to pay for the rest of your wants and needs. But how do you feel at the end of each day? Do you sleep peacefully knowing that you have contributed to the greater good, or do you toss and turn in bed, wondering when you’re going to start feeling fulfilled? Through investing in yourself, and your brand you find out what your natural gifts are and you have a clearer vision of what you should really be doing. 3.You’re worth it. The best reason of all? You’re worth it. Investing in yourself and brand will ultimately pay off. People will take notice and jump on the bandwagon. The return on your investment: If you feel like you’ve been spending way too much money trying to project a certain image, re-think what it means to be successful and put-together. There are no clothes, cars, or other external trappings out there that will bring you long-term confidence. There is no out-of-your-price-range condo that will make it easier to make new friends. Investing in yourself emotionally, physically, spiritually and financially, will allow you to become the best version of yourself. When you are the best version of yourself, you will be an attraction magnet to others. The more your pour into your career, relationships, passions, and health, the happier you’ll be. Invest in yourself — it’ll pay dividends!
“Don’t fear failure so much that you refuse to try new things. The saddest summary of life contains three descriptions: could have, might have, and should have.” ~Unknown
I packed my luggage a week ahead of time! Got my snacks from Walmart! Made sure my books were able to fit in my luggage! I been praying and waiting for this trip! On trips, I am usually the one that gets the lucky TSA pat down, I mean rubdown. I have learned to dress right to avoid the TSA pat down! After approximately 7 hours of travel across 2-time zones I arrived last Saturday (Saturday, August 5, 2017) in Toronto, Canada. I thought it was going to be hard entering Canada. Entering Canada, was a breezy! We got passed customs! Now we were headed to our hotel. First, we had to get a taxi! The first thing, you should do when going on an international trip is to learn the currency. The guy, told me $70 dollars for a taxi, ride, I nearly passed out. We finally made to our hotel. The hotel was so nice! It was like a mini condo! Nice, I would highly recommend the Liberty Suites Hotel on Yonge street! Kya Publishing’s Toronto Urban Book Expo (TUBE) is the only Canadian event dedicated to celebrating urban fiction. It is an annual exposition of contemporary urban writers where authors and publishers have the opportunity to display, sell, and communicate their projects while promoting support and recognition for urban literature, literacy, and culture. The only thing in life that is certain is uncertainty. We really can’t predict how it’s all going to turn out. As a result, we learn to roll with the punches, go with the flow and ride wave in the direction its taking us. But what separates movers and shakers from the ones who just get taken along for the ride is the ability to take a leap of faith. The only way that any of us will ever live up to our true potential is by taking a leap of faith. There’s no doubt that it’s an uncomfortable road to success and fear, uncertainty and self-doubt will continually make appearances even if after you’ve taken your leap. You’ll continually be asking yourself if you have what it takes. The Book Expo was held on Sunday, August 6, 2017, it was awesome! I had to exchange my American money into Canadian money. The Canadian money is much prettier than American money. The expo was awesome! I got meet so many great Authors and was able to make connections. I heard their story, on how they took the leap of Faith and made sacrifices to attend the event. I am still an underdog in the writing and author trying to get my feet wet in the literacy world. Even though, I didn’t sell many books and I would like to too. Thank God, I took the leap of faith. The connections, I made that day made all worth it. We spent the next two days, exploring Canada. One of the most memorizing thing in Canada is Niagara Falls. We always saw Canada in pictures or on TV, and everything seemed to be so nice, but now, we are here, and we could see the reality with our own eyes. When I first saw the Falls I got so scared that I wanted to run away. The power of the falling water and the whooshing noise it was making scared me but at night The Falls looked very colorful like a rainbow. We got to see the CN tower in Toronto. From here, I could see the overview of the city of Toronto. It looked very lovely. I laid down on the glass floor and it looked as if I was falling. Have you ever seen one of the Seven Wonders of the World? Well I have and being able to go see one of the Seven Wonders of the World was an experience of a lifetime. Not only did I see Niagara Falls, but I was in a completely different country. Most people want to have excitement in their lives, something they will remember for a long time. Well this is definitely the way to experience an unforgettable vacation! I loved everything about Canada except the food! I wish they had better food selection! But overall, the trip was worth every dollar! I loved that Canada, is like a melting pot! The weather was nice! I see, why people say, I am packing up and moving to Canada. One day, I pray that I get to spend longer in Canada. Take the leap of Faith! Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. Steve Jobs Even if you don’t watch television very much, other than to catch up on your favorite dramas or comedies, you probably know that reality TV has taken over the airwaves. Since the 1980s, local networks have been producing and adapting reality shows but it only boomed during the late 90s. Now, it’s all everyone can talk about especially in social media. Millions and millions of people turn in every week to watch reality. From the statistics, its mostly women watching reality TV. Let be honest, I used to watch as a guilty pleasure. I need a little drama in life. As I have grown over the years, I started to watch less of the reality trash. And as much as I indulged in my fair share of reality television, I decided enough was enough. And boy, am I glad I made that decision. Yes, reality TV is damaging to our society. And all of it is fake. But for some reason you keep tuning in week after week. What’s wrong with you? We already know the whole theory that it’s like watching a car crash. But why keep being part of the problem? Here, we run down 3 reasons reality TV still has everyone feeling like Pookie and Nookie. 1.Reality shows are not representative of reality: Although they try their damnedest to look like real life, reality TV shows are the furthest from reality that you can get. Yes, they cast “real “people instead of professional actors as characters, but other than that, reality TV shows are completely scripted. Black women are making money off of being “drama queens” on shows like Basketball Wives, even if they’re not really that bad (or that extra) in real life. 2. Miss representation shows ugly side of women and men in our society: seeing beautiful, talented, broken, misunderstood, hurt women and invite me and millions of other Americans into scripted portions of their lives to judge, suck our teeth in disdain, laugh uncontrollably, whatever – as long as we were watching. A number of the reality television programs today promote selfishness. Every cast member wants to be the star, and will do almost anything to achieve that goal. Of course, the producers of the show promote this behavior because it makes for “interesting” TV, but that doesn’t mean it’s right. 3. The media is already distracting us from what is important, we all at least should know better than watching shows that won’t benefit us in any way. Do the world a favor, drop the remote and read a book instead. Trash reality tv doesn’t hold an place in my entertainment schedule anymore. I’m looking toward what uplifts, motivates, inspires and showcases folks who have or are walking the same path as me. To each her own. But I’ve given positivity a permanent home. Why Dare to Dream Big?A person who dreams big is an ordinary person. What makes them extraordinary is that they find the courage, heart, and discipline to make that dream come true. They go after their dreams despite the naysayers. The problem is that we forget that we can do the same. Within each of us is a core of goodness, wisdom, and heart that has been there from the start. Yet as the years go by disappointment and criticism turn into fears, doubts, and anxieties that obscure this essence. Then of course we can’t go out in public with our inadequacies hanging out, so we hide them behind our I’m happy, just fine face. My name is Tristan Jackson, through my website I want to inspire you!! My purpose for this blog's, websites, and book's is to inspire people to achieve their dreams in spite of adversity. I will be posting motivational quotes, bible verses, and college tips!! My story: My life is a story of faith, hope, perseverance, survival, love, heartbreak, compassion, triumphs, and failures. God didn't promise days without pain, laughter, sorrow, sun or rain, but he did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way. If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it. I was born and raised in Houston, Texas!! I was raised in a small low income neighborhood near downtown Houston called Fourth Ward. I will never forget where I came from, Fourth Ward, but I just tend to set my mind more on where I’m headed. I have learned that you must think outside of the box to obtain greatness. Why dare to dream big? As we go through life, it’s easy to get caught up in the status quo. You start to believe that average is acceptable and that since others are settling, then it’s ok to do the same. As soon as you notice this start to happen, something must be done to snap out of it! Because the world needs you to put your gifts to work — we’re in a mess and we need your help. Everything and everybody counts. Plus dreaming big is the fastest track to personal transformation and learning to make the next big dream come true. |
